What Material Should You Choose for a 120×200 Cm Fitted Sheet?

Most 120×200 cm fitted sheets are made of cotton. Depending on the type of cotton, fiber quality, and processing method, different fabrics are created: thicker and thinner or smoother and rougher, such as satin or its counterpart flannel. Fabrics made from cotton fibers are extremely breathable, climate-regulating, and feel soft against the skin. So it's no wonder that cotton sheets are in high demand. Jersey cotton fabric is a real all-rounder – it is suitable for every season and for people who sweat a lot while sleeping.

Suitable Material for Cooler Nights

On mild autumn and cool winter nights, you can snuggle up in 120×200 cm fitted sheets made of beaver, terry cloth, or flannel. These fabrics typically have a roughened surface that traps heat. For people who sweat a lot at night, the warming effect can be almost too much. Some fabric blends should not be washed at too high a temperature. A washing temperature of 60°C should be the hygienic standard for bed linen.

Which Fitted Sheet for Warmer Nights

Bed linen made of satin, linen, or jersey can create a cooling sensation on warmer nights due to its smooth surface. The large-mesh linen fabrics, which are made from the flax plant, score points for their high breathability. However, they feel rougher than most cotton fabrics, which is why the 120×200 cm linen sheet is not popular with everyone.

Fitted Sheets 120×200 Cm for Mattresses of Different Heights

If you want to use your 120×200 cm fitted sheet for particularly high mattresses, such as waterbeds or box spring beds, you will need a fitted sheet with an extra high bridge height. The height indicates how high the mattress can be so that the fitted sheet completely covers the sides of the mattress and can be tucked under the mattress for a secure fit. This is also important if you want to put a topper on your mattress. The depth of a 120×200 cm fitted sheet should always be slightly greater than the height of the mattress itself. A normal depth is sufficient for most mattresses. The BODYGUARD® Jersey Fitted Sheet 120x200 cm has an extremely comfortable height of approx. 30 cm and is suitable for mattresses up to a height of 22 cm. For higher mattresses up to 32 cm, you can use the BODYGUARD® Fitted Sheet Extra Deep with a height of approx. 50 cm.

Recognizing Good Quality Fitted Sheets

The higher the thread count of woven fitted sheets, the better their quality. With knitted fabrics such as jersey, it is not the thread count but the weight that is the quality feature. The so-called fabric weight is given in grams per square meter (g/m²). To prevent fitted sheets made of cotton fabrics from slipping, small amounts of elastic synthetic fibers are added to them. The BODYGUARD® Jersey Fitted Sheet 120x200 cm is made of 96% cotton and 4% elastane. Thanks to this material mix, it fits securely on your mattress. With a weight of 240 g/m², the BODYGUARD® Jersey Fitted Sheet offers premium quality and is characterized by its resilience and durability.

Fitted Sheet 120×200 Cm – Wash at 60°C

To effectively combat dust mites and germs, your 120×200 cm fitted sheet should be washable at a minimum temperature of 60°C. This also applies to all other items of bedding. The quality of the elastic determines the maximum wash temperature. Good fitted sheets should have a high-quality elastic band that does not become brittle even after many washes at high temperatures. This ensures that your sheet stays taut on the mattress even after many washes.

A fitted sheet measuring 120x200 cm should, of course, fit the length and width of your mattress. Depending on the height of your mattress, you should choose a fitted sheet with a corresponding height. Many fitted sheets appear too small, especially for high mattresses. They do not fit over the sides of the mattress or they slip off. Therefore, if you have a higher mattress, a box spring bed, or a waterbed at home, make sure that the height of your fitted sheet is sufficient.

When it comes to bedding, i.e., pillowcases and duvet covers, you can use special fabrics for summer or winter to further enhance your personal warmth and comfort. A sheet, on the other hand, should be suitable for use all year round. However, you can also use seasonal fabrics here. Thanks to its many positive properties, jersey is a suitable fabric for your 120x200 cm fitted sheet in every season.

Fitted sheets are available for single beds, double beds, and also in extra-long sizes. Fitted sheets often cover two adjacent mattress sizes. The 120x200 cm fitted sheet is designed exclusively for this specific mattress size, at least in the case of the BODYGUARD® Jersey Fitted Sheet.
