Mattress 100x220 cm: Comfort in Both Length and Width
The 100x220 cm mattress is an extra-large mattress. If you are taller than 190 cm, the 220 cm mattress length is probably the right choice for you. It is well suited to bedrooms where space is limited. This size offers plenty of space for a single tall person and is classified as an oversized mattress due to its exceptional length. When used in combination, two 100×220 cm mattresses can also be a good option for two people.
100×220 cm Mattress: Not Just for Tall People
Whether it’s a room in a shared flat, your first flat of your own, a child’s bedroom or a studio flat – bedrooms often don’t offer enough space for all the furniture you need. A 100×220 cm mattress is a good compromise here. Thanks to its larger size, you’ll enjoy slightly more comfort than on a 90×220 cm mattress and, above all, have more space lengthways than usual.
Note: As a general rule, make sure your mattress is about 20 centimetres longer than you are. However, even if you’re not two metres tall, you can still benefit from a 100×220 cm mattress. Thanks to its length, you’ll have significantly more legroom and freedom of movement in bed than with standard sizes. There are no ergonomic drawbacks to a 100×220 cm mattress.
What’s Inside a Mattress Core?
At first glance, most 100×220 cm mattresses look very similar. Inside, however, they can have a number of distinctive features. Here is a brief overview of the properties of the most common materials used in mattress cores:
- Latex offers high point elasticity, but a 100×220 cm mattress made from this material is comparatively heavy and tends to feel quite firm.
- Spring mattresses are also tending to be heavier due to the metal springs in the core. When it comes to point elasticity, the meticulously crafted – and therefore somewhat more expensive – pocket spring mattresses offer the most precise support.
- Well-made foam mattresses, such as the BODYGUARD® Mattress 100×220 cm, impress with their point elasticity and particularly light weight.
As there are significant differences between types of foam, make sure when buying that the product is of high quality. There are numerous myths surrounding the quality of mattresses, which often sound promising but fail to deliver on their quality promises. These include, for example, the claim that a high density is synonymous with a high-quality mattress. The BODYGUARD® Mattress 100×220 cm has a low density of just 35 kg/m³. Thanks to the use of QXSchaum®, it nevertheless offers good ergonomic properties whilst being both stable and durable. Its light weight also makes it easy to carry, turn over and fit with a cover.
