Pillow 40×80 cm – the Rectangular Comfort Pillow
Pillows 40x80 cm are half the size of classic, large, square pillows. The advantage is obvious – or rather, under your shoulders: while you rest your head and shoulders on a conventional pillow, a pillow 80×40 cm only supports your head and neck. Your shoulders can sink into the mattress. Pillows 40×80 cm are therefore also referred to as comfort pillows
Narrow or Large Pillows: Which is Better?
It's not always the mattress that's to blame when you don't get a good night's sleep – it could also be the wrong pillow. On a large 80×80 cm pillow, your shoulders usually rest next to your head. This can lead to tension and restless sleep. In addition, large pillows are often unnecessarily puffed up, causing you to sink into them so that you can hear your own breathing when lying on your side. An 80x40 cm pillow gives your shoulders the space they need. This raises your head slightly, allowing your heavy shoulders to sink into the mattress unhindered and your cervical spine to remain in its natural position. This allows your neck, throat and shoulder muscles to relax and prevents tension. A special type of comfort pillow is the neck support pillow, which is specially shaped to provide targeted support for the neck.
Ergonomic Sleeping with the 40x80 cm Pillow
High-quality 40x80 cm pillows, such as the ergonomically shaped BODYGUARD® Visco pillow, relieve pressure on your neck and shoulder area when lying down and support the cervical spine. The filling of the BODYGUARD® Visco pillow consists of flexible visco foam flakes, which you can remove as desired to adjust the pillow to your body.
Measuring approx. 32 x 70 cm, the BODYGUARD® neck support pillow is slightly more manageable than the 40 x 80 cm pillow. However, with its curves, it still fits perfectly into an 40 x 80 cm pillowcase. With two sides of different heights, you can decide how much support you need in the neck area for your cervical spine, depending on your personal support requirements.
