Slatted Frame 90×200 cm – the Classic for Single and Double Beds

The 90×200 cm slatted frame is the best-selling and most popular slatted frame size in Germany - whether as a sprung wooden frame, disc slatted frame or roller frame. It lies under almost every 90x200 cm mattress and there are even two 90x200 cm slatted frames under the 180x200 cm mattress.

Slatted Frame 90×200 cm – Single or Double
You should always buy a slatted frame to match the mattress size. So for a 90×200 cm mattress, you need a 90×200 cm slatted frame. For mattresses that are wider than the 140×200 cm mattress, there are no continuous slatted frames. From a mattress size of 160×200 cm or larger, you need two slatted frames. A 90×200 cm slatted frame is then needed twice under a 180×200 cm mattress. This is precisely why the 90×200 cm slatted frame is so common in German bedrooms: It lies under the most popular mattress size in a single bed as well as in a double bed.

Slatted Frame 90×200 cm – Suspension Requirements
With a 90×200 cm slatted frame, make sure that the spring slats rest on the frame and are not clamped into it. Only spring slats that rest on the frame provide suspension over the entire lying surface. Especially if you have two 90×200 cm slatted frames in a double bed, you will have noticeably less suspension in the centre of the bed on slatted frames with clamped slats. With a single 90×200 cm slatted frame, the unsprung bed sides can also cause an uneven lying sensation, which can bother you in the long run.
Common Slatted Frame Sizes

In addition to the standard bed length of two metres, there are also shorter and longer slatted frames for extra-long beds. The 90x200 cm slatted frame is available in three other lengths:
- Slatted frame 90x190 cm
- Slatted frame 90x210 cm
- Slatted frame 90x220 cm
In addition to the 90×200 cm slatted frame, there are four other standard slatted frame sizes:
- Slatted frame 80×200 cm
- Slatted frame 90×200 cm
- Slatted frame 100×200 cm
- Slatted frame 120×200 cm
- Slatted frame 140×200 cm
Different Construction Methods – Not All Slatted Frames Are the Same
A 90×200 cm slatted frame can be made of different materials. Most slatted frames are made of wood, metal or plastic. All slatted frames have some features in common, regardless of the material: they are designed to stabilise your body during sleep and ensure that your mattress is ventilated.
Slatted Frame 90x200 Cm: Adjustable or Basic?
In addition to the construction materials, 90×200 cm slatted frames can also be differentiated according to whether the slatted frame is adjustable. If the slatted frame is adjustable, the question remains as to what extent it is adjustable. Adjustable slatted frames differ in the degree to which they are adjustable: The classic adjustment is to regulate the firmness in the area of important sections of the spine. Height-adjustable head, foot or even back sections are an additional luxury or, in some cases, medically necessary additional functions. The disc slatted frame is an extravagant exception.
1. The Basic Slatted Frame
A 90×200 cm slatted base without adjustment options reproduces the ergonomics of a mattress almost exactly as the mattress was designed. Another advantage is that you don't put yourself in an unfavourable position when adjusting the slatted frame. Literally. Because you cannot adjust a 90x200 cm rigid slatted frame against your own needs. The rigid slatted frame is often a simple wooden roller frame, a solid metal frame or a stable slat base made of high-quality beech, such as the BODYGUARDsup>® Slatted Frame Basic.

3. Slatted Frame Adjustable in Height
Some slatted frames have so-called adjustment sliders on some or all slats. You can use these sliders to make the respective slats a little more or less springy. This is intended to make the lying sensation in the area of the respective slat firmer or softer. How you can adjust your slatted frame correctly and customise it to your needs depends on the respective system.

This depends on your individual preferences and needs. A simple, rigid slatted frame is sufficient for a healthy body of average build.
If you prefer a little more comfort or are anticipating possible physical changes such as muscle growth or pregnancy, an adjustable slatted frame with firmness adjustment is the best choice. An adjustable head and foot section is a real benefit for evenings or even whole days spent comfortably reading and watching TV in bed. However, this additional function also pays off in the event of prolonged illness, such as the flu.
The 180x200 cm slatted frame does not exist in this form. With a pallet bed, box spring bed or a cardboard bed, you often have a less noticeable separation into two sides of the bed due to the different structure of the slat base. However, all standard slatted frames are only stable up to a width of 140 cm. Two 90x200 cm slatted frames are therefore needed under your 180x200 cm mattress.
